KILLEEN, TEXAS/ August 9, 2019/ Former Dallas Cowboy and Cowboys Ring of Honor Darren Woodson named new spokesperson for the C5 Foundation, according to C5 Board Chairman Rick Covert. Woodson has previously served as a C5 Board Member. In his new role, Woodson will raise public awareness and continue working with youth in underserved communities.
“C5 is a great fit for me because my entire life I’ve seen in the inner city that there hasn’t been enough hope and hope comes in education. At a young age I understood that in order for me to get to where I wanted to be in life, I needed to be educated. That was my mission then and that is my mission now,” says Woodson.
The mission of the C5 Youth Foundation of Texas is to change the odds for high potential youth from underserved communities by inspiring them to pursue personal success and preparing them for leadership roles in college, work and their communities. In doing so, the foundation engages middle and high school students from under resourced areas. Our five-year intensive program includes year-round leadership development, signature summer activities, community action, and preparing youth to continue their education and career development.
“The skill set that I am going to bring to C5 is just being honest about life, the ups and downs and where the pit falls may be, and just being honest and speaking truthful to these young men and women,” says Woodson.
“I’m honored to work alongside Darren and watch him continue to inspire children to pursue their dreams,” says Covert.
