September 3, 2018/ Autism is a developmental disorder that makes it difficult for children to learn, socialize or communicate with others. Physically, it is not possible to identify people that suffer from autism. However, their thinking, learning, and ability to deal with problems may be challenged. People with autism may need assistance in developing skills, or to go through daily activities.
Rob Lowe hosts an upcoming “On Demand” segment that discussed this and explains the challenges, and the unbelievable stories of hope and triumph, that relate to autism. The segment will discuss early signifiers of autism, which could include inability to make eye contact, failure to respond to their name or familiar voices, failure to notice discomfort or pain in other people, abnormal posture, attachment to strange objects, repeating the same action too many times, failure to imitate gestures or facial expressions, and lack of interest in seemingly fun activities such as playing.
The segment urges parents to monitor the development of the children so a s to detect problems early, but also to help educate that there are support systems and resources in place to help families who are presented with autism. The segment will also address myths surrounding autism regarding some outside influencers and vaccines.
The segment is brief, informative and designed to help audiences understand this unique condition.
