SEPTEMBER 14, 2018/ Emmy-award winning actress Patricia Heaton will be honored tomorrow for her humanitarian work with the global non-profit World Vision. The Creative Coalition’s 4th Annual Television Advocacy Awards recognizes leaders in the television industry who effectively use their voices for social change.
Heaton has taken three humanitarian trips with World Vision. In 2015, she traveled to Zambia, where she met her sponsored child, Gracious. Child sponsorship is available through World Vision to bring hope and essentials like clean water, nutrition and education to a child and community in need.
Inspired by Gracious, Heaton has designed a new accessory collection for World Vision’s 2018 Gift Catalog. The Grace Collection is made by fair-trade artists in India and proceeds fund World Vison’s work where it’s needed most.
Earlier this year, after her nine-season television series, The Middle, came to an end, Patricia Heaton flew 9,325 miles to Uganda to put a spotlight on the difficulties faced by refugees from South Sudan. Heaton and her co-star, Jen Ray, visited the world’s largest refugee camp with World Vision, serving meals to refugees who just crossed the border – many of them children. In 2017, Heaton traveled to Jordan to meet Syrian refugees.
Later this year, Heaton will appear at World Vision’s Give-back Gift Shop in New York City, a unique charitable pop-up that brings the organization’s Gift Catalog to life.
