LOS ANGELES/ MARCH 16, 2018 – In celebration of the 2018 Winter Olympics that took place in Pyeongchang, South Korea during February and its 7 Year Anniversary that will take place in May during National Foster Care Month, Mixed Roots Foundation will host its 7th season of its signature ‘Adoptee Night’ sporting events in partnership with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday, May 25, San Francisco Giants on Friday, June 22, and Minnesota Twins on Friday, July 13, 2018.
‘Adoptee Night’ will feature the USA Women’s Olympic Hockey sisters, Marissa and Hannah Brandt who just competed in Pyeongchang, South Korea where Marissa represented the first ever Korea United Women’s Hockey team and Hannah represented the USA Women’s Hockey team that won Gold against Canada which broke a 20 year losing streak in Hockey history. Marissa who was recently appointed by the Korean government as an Honorary Ambassador for Korean Adoptees also known as Park Yoon-jung was adopted from South Korea at 4 months old by Greg and Robin Brandt and grew up with her younger sister Hannah Brandt in Vadnais Heights, Minnesota.
“We are so honored and excited to be part of Mixed Roots Foundation’s ‘Adoptee Night’ events this year”, said Marissa Brandt. “As a Korean Adoptee, I am proud that I can be a voice for others and hope to use my platform to encourage others who are also adopted to let them know there is support and resources out there for them.”
“Growing up with a sister that is adopted – I think it’s very cool to have organizations like Mixed Roots Foundation that supports families like ours”, said Hannah Brandt. It will be fun to tour the country with Marissa and all for a great cause and knowing these events and more importantly Mixed Roots Foundation is making a difference in kid’s lives.”
In addition to featuring the Brandt sisters, Mixed Roots Foundation will also partner with several individuals, local businesses and organizations in the greater community to assist in the recruitment of mixed, adopted, foster youth and their families as well as help raise funds to sponsor 1,500 adopted and foster youth to attend their first major league baseball games.
Mixed Roots Foundation will also host a pregame VIP Meet & Greet reception at each of the games where individuals will have the special opportunity to meet the Brandt sisters and hear their personal stories of success as well as greet other special guests along with networking with valued community partners and sponsors.
