Wells Fargo Housing Foundation Works with Homes 4 Families to Build the Home of a Veteran in Santa Clarita

LOS ANGELES/ JUNE 12, 2018/ Wells Fargo Housing Foundation has awarded $15,000 to Homes 4 Families. Team members also volunteered to help build the home of a low-income veteran in Santa Clarita, California as part of Homes 4 Families’ current project—a 78-home Veteran Enriched Neighborhood®.

Wells Fargo Housing Foundation (WFHF) carries out this effort through its Team Member Volunteer Program. The program provides financial support to eligible non-profit housing organizations. Wells Fargo team members volunteer to help build, renovate, paint, or repair a home for low-to-moderate income homebuyers or homeowners. The project supports activities that stabilize or revitalize low-income and underserved neighborhoods or areas.

“Wells Fargo is proud to support Homes 4 Families with a $15,000 grant from our Team Member Volunteer program,” said Patrick Nygren, San Fernando Valley Region Bank President. “When our team members help build, renovate, paint or repair homes for low-to-moderate income families for our veterans or seniors the WFHF provides grants to the eligible nonprofit.” Ten Wells Fargo volunteers participated and worked diligently to frame, build yard drains and paint the veteran’s home.

Wells Fargo team members helped build the home of the Reyes Family, a family of four. Michael served four years in the Army, including a 15-month deployment to Iraq and another two years in the Army Reserve. He knew he wanted to be in the military since he was a young boy, making his way up the JROTC ranks through high school. A week after graduating high school he joined the Army. Michael and his wife Beverly, his middle school sweetheart, have overcome more than most in their young lives and are excited to move into the Veteran Enriched Neighborhood® in the coming year. He is most excited to be a homeowner because his ultimate goal in life is to help his two daughters reach their full potential and achieve all their life goals.

Homes 4 Families developed the Enriched Neighborhood® model as an innovative, replicable, and comprehensive way to move low-income families up the economic ladder with full-equity affordable homeownership and wraparound services that empower families to become resilient and self-sufficient.
