Ashley HomeStore’s Hope to Dream Program Donates 100 Beds to I Grow Chicago’s Englewood Community

Chicago – May 4 – Ashley HomeStore’s Hope to Dream Program gave the gift of sleep to children in need in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood. The company recently donated 100 twin beds to I Grow Chicago, a nonprofit whose mission is to grow Englewood from surviving to thriving through community connection, skill building and opportunity.

Children and their families received the beds, mattresses, bed sheets, pillows, pillowcases, coverlets and slat bed frames.

For seven years, Ashley HomeStore’s Hope to Dream Program has been helping underprivileged children between the ages of 3 and 16 who are without beds and families, who earn very low incomes, live in poverty or are transitioning from a homeless situation. The company learns about these families and children from nominations sent by school social workers, case managers, churches and other charitable organizations.

Portions of customers’ mattress purchases at participating Ashley HomeStore locations fund the program. The company has delivered more than 50,000 beds to children and their families.

Andrea Mattea, Ashley HomeStore’s field marketing manager, instantly saw a need to help this Chicago-based nonprofit.

“We are excited to partner with an amazing local organization to support our local community,” Mattea said. “After being connected with I Grow Chicago, we want to continue having an ongoing partnership with them as they help children who need an environment of safety, stability and positive growth and opportunities in their lives. The goal for the Hope to Dream Program is to ensure that every child gets a good night’s sleep which leads to having a healthier lifestyle.”

Erin Vogel, I Grow Chicago’s co-executive director, said that the donation was a huge blessing.

“Many of the kids we serve do not have their own bed to sleep in, if a bed at all,” Vogel explained. “Thanks to the generous donation of Ashley HomeStore, all of the children we serve will now have what the rest of us take for granted, the opportunity to have a good night’s sleep.”

Vogel was also impressed by Ashley HomeStore’s strong commitment to aiding local community-based nonprofits and organizations.

“As a society, we have a responsibility to help others and Ashley HomeStore is contributing by donating beds, items that many of our children don’t have the luxury to have,” Vogel said.
