BNtheMix.com/ March 26, 2018 – So many people across the globe have a paralyzing fear of failure. So much so, that it can deter them from going after new opportunities or trying new things. It’s understandable. Let’s be real. Nobody WANTS to fail. It doesn’t feel good at the time to get rejected or get no response at all from a job you wanted. It’s hard to fail on a project you thought you gave your all. After a while, failures and rejections can become so painful that it may make you want to give up completely.
Failure is completely inevitable. There’s no getting around it or jumping over it. It’s GOING to happen. What a good amount of people don’t realize, though, is that failure truly is the mother of all success! Wild to consider, but failure properly lines you up to be able to handle your journey to success. You just have to switch up your mindset about it. If and when you do, you’ll see just how failure overall is making and will continue to make you stronger. Here’s three reasons why:
1) Failure keeps you humble.
If you were feeling yourself a little too much, sometimes you need to be knocked down a few pegs on your ladder. Everyone has greatness in them, However, when you start to get arrogant, there’s nothing like a failed attempt or missed mark to knock you off your high horse. It reminds you that, no matter how gifted you are at what you do, you can still lose. There is still someone out there better than you or than you can learn from. Failure definitely keeps you and your attitude in check.
2) Failure shows you where you still have room for improvement.
As you continue to try and fail and try and fail again on your journey, you begin to see what works for you and what doesn’t. Case in point, a business owner who falls short at promoting his product to the right demographic slowly but surely learns what will be the best way to go about it. A blogger or YouTuber not quite reaching her goals in terms of traffic or views analyzes mistakes made in order to be able to shift plans accordingly. So your losses can set you up to learn and grow from your mistakes, and get to higher heights.
2) Failure will ultimately develop perseverance.
It’s so easy to let your defeats make you bitter and want to give up on your goals. However, the true failure comes when you stop trying. Moments of failure, if you carry the right mindset about it, pushes you to keep going until you do succeed. When you believe that your destiny is real, every loss literally becomes a part of the game. When you let those losses motivate you to get better, you begin to work harder. You develop more perseverance, and begin to push yourself to keep going even when you don’t win. You get stronger and hungrier to accomplish the hard goals ahead. Then, when you do ultimately get to where you want to be, you work your tail off to stay there!
So make a commitment to shift your perspective towards failure today. Failure will surely come, but please know that your setbacks really are preparing you for what you asked for in the first place.
