Lymphoma Research Foundation to Host Inaugural Swirl: A Wine Tasting Event in Twin Cities

BNtheMix.com/ MINNEAPOLIS/ FEBRUARY 09, 2018 – The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services – will bring its national Swirl: A Wine Tasting Event to the Twin Cities for the first time on Thursday, February 22, 2018. The inaugural event will be held at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, where attendees will be able to view contemporary prints and sculptures in the MacMillian Atrium and enjoy private access to select galleries.

Through the Lymphoma Research Foundation’s unique partnership with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, the evening will feature a selection of high-end wines generously donated to benefit LRF’s mission of eradicating lymphoma and serving those impacted by this blood cancer. Thomas M. Habermann, MD, Chair of LRF’s Scientific Advisory Board and Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine will serve on the event’s honorary Host Committee, and provide a keynote on updates in the field of novel treatment options and innovative research. Habermann will be joined by Joe Schmit, KSTP-TV Sports Director, longtime Minnesota broadcaster and lymphoma survivor.

“Each year, the Lymphoma Research Foundation receives incredibly exciting and innovative research grants for support; events like Swirl: Twin Cities enables LRF to continue funding important research thanks to our generous supporters,” said Thomas M. Habermann, MD, Chair of the LRF Scientific Advisory Board. “At this year’s American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting, the Lymphoma Research Foundation had a record-number of research presented, and the funds generated at this year’s Swirl: Twin Cities will go a long way in ensuring that we are able to continue funding the next generation of lymphoma researchers.”

The Foundation is pleased to bring this new event to the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, as its annual Love to Find a Cure fundraiser was retired after a successful decade-long run.
