Fred Jordan Missions And Foot Locker Partner For The 29th Year To Offer New Sneakers To Nearly 5,000 Impoverished Children On Skid Row

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 5, 2017 – Fred Jordan Missions and Foot Locker are continuing their partnership to provide nearly 5,000 underprivileged children with new shoes and socks in Los Angeles. Additional donations include clothing, backpacks, school supplies, haircuts and In–N-Out Burgers. This year’s annual giveaway is being held today beginning at 9:00 a.m. PT at the Fred Jordan Missions, located at 445 Towne Avenue.

Skid Row will be transformed into an outdoor mall for the day; the first destination being a huge Foot Locker store. Dozens of Foot Locker associates – dressed in their iconic black and white striped uniforms – will measure each child for new shoes. Fred Jordan Missions’ unique 29-year partnership with Foot Locker has supplied more than 100,000 children with new athletic shoes and socks over the years.

Volunteers from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, corporations, churches and schools will escort the children to tables piled high with donated gifts and hygiene kits. In-N-Out Burger will bring their signature red and white food trucks to serve the children and their parents a delicious burger hot-off-the-grill, followed by a visit to Paul Mitchell’s tent, where stylists will cut and style each child’s hair. On-air personalities from Real 92-3, LA’s home for Hip Hop, will provide music and entertainment for the event.
