(CHICAGO) – September 12, 2017 – At the annual CFC Luncheon last Thursday, Mayor Rahm Emanuel officially declared September 24 through 30, HBCU Week in Chicago! “For more than 180 years, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have been a beacon for culture, community, and change educating and preparing generations of African American students. Over the last two decades, the Chicago Football Classic has raised over two million dollars in scholarships for deserving Chicago land students,” Mayor Emanuel stated.
In collaboration with Sherman Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Skokie, BMO Harris Bank, NBC5, Comcast & Telemundo, the CFC welcomes two of the best in Black college football, the Grambling State University Tigers and the Clark Atlanta University Panthers to the 20th anniversary of this historic game.
In addition, please note that the CFC is supporting the victims of Hurricane Harvey by donating $2.00 from every Chicago Football Classic ticket purchased through Ticketmaster to provide immediate flood relief in conjunction with the American Red Cross, from now until Friday, September 22.
