Ava Gresser Receives 2017 Guaranteed Impact Award

CHICAGO, July 28, 2017 – Ava Gresser, a nine-year-old South Side Chicago resident and avid Sox fan, received the Guaranteed Impact Award, a program launched in partnership with the Chicago White Sox to honor kids and teens who are making a positive difference in their communities or schools. The Honeycomb Project, a local organization dedicated to family volunteering, nominated Ava for her outstanding commitment to Honeycomb and the Chicago community.

Ava began volunteering with The Honeycomb Project two years ago at just seven-years-old. Since then, she’s remained committed to making a positive, lasting difference in Chicago’s communities. Ava now volunteers monthly with the organization, from beach clean-ups on the shores of Lake Michigan, helping shelter animals at the Anti-Cruelty Society, baking cookies for families at the Ronald McDonald House, building bookcases for a school in Brighton Park, and restoring a nature preserve in Lake Calumet.

“Already at a young age, Ava is an active, conscious, and well-rounded citizen,” said Kristina Lowenstein, Executive Director and Co-Founder of The Honeycomb Project. “She is a shining example of what the youth of this great city can accomplish, and we’re thrilled Honeycomb provides a platform for her to do so.”

In partnership with the Chicago White Sox, The Guaranteed Impact Program celebrates young people who have contributed to the betterment of their community or school in a unique, meaningful way. The program’s goal is to encourage and empower kids and teens who are working to improve the lives of those around them.

“We want to show kids that they have the power to make the great city of Chicago even better,” says Guaranteed Rate Founder and CEO Victor Ciardelli. “Giving back has always been a huge part of Guaranteed Rate and we think it’s important to share stories of young people working to improve the lives of those around them – and hopefully those examples will inspire others to do the same.”

With her family, Ava will receive recognition on July 30 at a White Sox game including a shout-out from announcers, her photo on the videoboard and provided a suite to enjoy the game. Ten winners throughout the 2017 season will be celebrated at different home games.
