Cricket Wireless Launches Cricket Cares

ATLANTA, June 9, 2017 – Cricket Wireless announced the launch of Cricket Cares to boost its commitment to bettering communities where you live, work and play.

“Philanthropy is part of Cricket’s cultural DNA. We work with national and regional charities to make a significant impact where it matters most – in the community,” said Dawn Benton, assistant vice president, corporate communications, Cricket Wireless. “Whether donating cell phones and wireless service or helping a worthy citizen renovate their home, Cricket prioritizes giving back.”

To kick off Cricket Cares, Cricket is working once again with Rebuilding Together. The joint program, “Connecting Communities,” is an effort to revitalize communities across the country. Starting in 5 cities – Baltimore, Detroit, Miami, Minneapolis and Seattle – Cricket will contribute $25,000 in each market that will go towards community revitalization projects, funding a total of 15 projects in all.

“Cricket Wireless understands the importance of investing in communities,” said Caroline Blakely, president and CEO of Rebuilding Together. “Through the Connecting Communities program, we will impact local families and residents, contributing to our mission to rebuild underserved neighborhoods throughout the country.”

Rebuilding Together invests in communities by improving the lives of residents in need, increasing the safety and health of their homes, building economic development opportunities and working with local leaders to revitalize underserved neighborhoods. Cricket and Rebuilding Together will officially launch Connected Communities in the coming weeks. To keep up to date on Cricket’s philanthropic activities, visit our Cricket Cares page.
