Zoe Saldana and Rachel Zoe To Take Part In Fifth Annual Moms +SocialGood Event

Having the opportunity to carry one’s own baby is no doubt one of the most remarkable and significant moments of parenthood. However, it is really disheartening that about 830 women die every day due to complications during pregnancy or childbirth. Worst still is the fact that annually an estimated 16,000 children die prematurely before age five from ailments that are possibly evitable. For this reason, come May 4th, New York City will be celebrating lives, supporters will gather to appreciate parenthood by promoting healthy family lives.

The fifth edition of the annual Mom +SocialGood is powered by the United Nations Foundation in conjunction with the Johnson & Johnson, and scheduled for a day, with discussion to center on mothers and families. The event is expected to offer a platform to discuss family health issues and programs to end common family problems. Clearly, there is no limit to what can be achieved when people of diverse background converge or stay connected to discuss ways to improve lives.

Women of substance who have outstandingly distinguished themselves from their chosen career have participated in the event as speakers. Notable of such personalities is Zoe Saldana, the award winning Actress; Zoe Inc, the CEO of Rachael Zoe Inc; Dr. Vannessa Kerry of Seed Global Health; Catalina Escolar of Juan Felipe Gomes Escobar, and many others.

The CEO of UN Foundation, Kathy Calvin said that the event is for everyone who cares about healthy lives and such are free to join to discuss matters that relate to the health of mothers and children around the globe. The fifth annual Moms +SocialGood is to take place at the AXA Event & Production Center, and followed by the Dads +SocialGood event on the 13th of June, while the Families +SocialGood event is scheduled to take place on 15th June in London. Also speaking, Michael Sneed of the Global Corporate Affairs said the partnership with the UN Foundation has helped to improve the health of moms and children worldwide. Speaking further, she maintained that the goal of the Global Mom’s Relay initiative is ensuring a continuous and an improved health lives for mothers and children, and thus enjoined parents to participate in achieving significant stride in this regard.

The event will also bring about other fascinating activities such as relay race for mothers, digital storytelling, and a fundraising awareness. The Relay is expected to commence before Mother’s Day and last until the Father’s Day, with 25 voices of notable public figures like working professionals, activists, artists, parents, etc., the relay exercise involves a question and answer session where participants ask and answer questions. The digital storytelling involves reading and sharing stories with friends on the internet. A donation of $1 to $500,000 per action and another $1 to $40,000 per photo will be donated on the Photo mobile app through the initiatives of Girl Up, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, UNFPA, Shot@Life and Nothing But Nets.
